Gonthier Research Fellowship

Description: The Charles D. Gonthier Research Fellowship is awarded annually to an academic who will present the best research on the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice’s (CIAJ) Annual Conference topic. For 2018 the topic is Justice and Mental Health – The courts have often become the emergency rooms for unaddressed mental health issues. The 2018 conference will assess the tools available to the justice system to manage such issues when they arise with respect to witnesses, persons accused, and litigants.

Amount: $7,000

Post-Doc Fellowship – Diversity & Democracy – Montreal, Québec

The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Diversity and Democracy (CRIDAQ) at Université du Québec à Montréal is offering a postdoctoral fellowship for the 2018-2019 academic year ($35,000 gross salary) – description in English. The fellowship must be used to carry out a project related to the CRIDAQ research themes in one of the four CRIDAQ antennae (UQAM, Université Laval, Université de Montréal, Concordia).

New Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship

Mitacs has launched a new opportunity for graduate students. The Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship provides long-term funding for a significant part of graduate degree programs:

  • Master’s students can complete an 18-month project (minimum $30,000 stipend)
  • PhD students can complete a three-year project (minimum $72,000 stipend)

The Fellowship also offers national professional development training that helps interns gain in-demand career skills and ensure the success of their projects.

Fellowships can form new Accelerate projects or be added to existing ones, and applications are accepted any time.

The Mitacs Accelerate program requires matching funding from a partner outside of the university for research of benefit to the partner. Your faculty advisor must be involved as your supervisor for this program.

CIGI – International Law Research Program – Post-Doctoral Fellowship Competition

The International Law Research Program (ILRP) of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI)  invites applications for post-doctoral fellowships for research in one or more of the ILRP areas of focus.

Eligibility: This funding opportunity is open to citizens or permanent residents of Canada.  Doctoral students who are completing their SJD/PhD in Law and those who have completed such a degree in the last two years may apply.

Amount: The value of the scholarship is up to $80,500 per year, plus up to $18,000 in research allowance, with a duration between 12 and 24 months.

Deadline: Wednesday September 20, 2017

Candidates must apply through the SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships competition.

American Musicological Society Fellowships

The American Musicological Society makes available up to three funded dissertation-year fellowships each year. Any student registered in good standing for a doctorate at a North American university who has completed all formal degree requirements except the dissertation at the time of full application is eligible to apply. The fellowships are not intended for support of the early stages of research: it is expected that a Fellow’s dissertation will be completed within the fellowship year.

Any submission for a doctoral degree in which the emphasis is on musical scholarship will be eligible.

Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute – 2017-18 Program

Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute‘s mission is “to improve the quality of life of the people of Canada and India by building and strengthening intellectual and cultural linkages through research, dialogue and exchange.” The Institute has just announced its programs for the year 2017-18 including the Shastri Research Student Fellowship (SRSF) – for Doctoral, Postdoctoral and Bachelor and Masters Students

In general applications from all domains of studies like Social Sciences and Humanities, Arts, Commerce & Management and STEM subjects are accepted. However, applications are encouraged in the focus areas of SICI and priority areas of MHRD, Govt. of India i.e. Food Security and Sustainable Development, Energy, Environmental Science and Climate Change, Agricultural Science & Technology, Health Care Sciences, Nursing, Marine Sciences and Ocean Studies, Information & Communication Technology, Sustainable Habitat, Nano-technology Hardware, Water Resources & River Systems, Advanced Materials, Manufacturing, Security & Defence, Gender, Bi-lateral Trade and Investment, Securing Future of Children and Youth, Higher Education,  Teacher Education and Training.
